Text to 3D vs image to 3D
Choose text when the object is still an idea; choose an image when you already have a visual target. Neither input guarantees hidden geometry or a production-ready mesh. Evaluate the silhouette first, then materials and density. Pro includes both Objectify generation methods, so input choice does not require a different paid plan.
| Decision | Text input | Image input |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | An object described in words | A visible reference design |
| Primary constraint | Object, style, material | Visible silhouette and palette |
| Unspecified data | Precise dimensions and geometry | Hidden surfaces and exact depth |
| Objectify plan | Pro | Pro |
Choose the right starting point
Text is useful for describing an object, style, and material without creating a reference first. An image gives a concrete visual target, but it can also carry misleading shadows or perspective. Pick the input that expresses the constraint you care about: a new concept or an existing visible design.
Work through the handoff
For text, describe one object and prioritize shape before small decoration. For an image, isolate the subject and avoid backgrounds that compete with it. Evaluate the result from several angles. Change the input when the form is wrong; separate texture and density corrections from the generation decision once you approve the silhouette.
Limitations and failure cases
A single view does not specify the hidden side of an object, and a prompt is not a dimensional drawing. No measured Objectify text-versus-image accuracy benchmark is available here. The Blender reference supports downstream mesh inspection only; it does not validate generation fidelity or establish a winning method.
Acceptance checklist
Compare the result with the intended silhouette, proportions, and visible features. Inspect unseen surfaces before export. For precise products or fitted parts, use measured geometry and manual correction rather than inferring accuracy from a plausible render. Keep the original prompt or image and record each revision before approving the asset.
